Snow Friends Gift Tag

I made a bunch of these cute snowmen to use for gifttags.   Of course the pink version is for the girls, and a blue version will be for boys.   This snow-girl is made with the Snow Friends cartridge.   Go on over to BBTB2 to see the other gift tags made by the creative team.    Merry Christmas to all, now let's go have a snowball fight!!

BBTB2 - Christmas Tag You're It

This week's challenge at BBTB2 is a Christmas tag - our hostess is calling this "Tag You're It".

I made this using the Cricut Artiste cartridge, cutting the ornament at 5", using white cardstock as the base and gold glitter paper for the detail.  The poinsetta was cut at 4 different sizes, creased and layered to give it a 3D effect.  Gold gemstones were added in the middle.  The name tag was also cut from Artiste, and the white name is cut using Don Juan, that cut can be done at 1/2" very easily, so I use it a lot.  The beads and ribbon were from my stash, I know I wanted to add a spring or a bow at the top, and this just jumped out at me.

Hop on over to to see all the Christmas tags the team has created.   TAG - YOU ARE IT!

Ready for Winter - Snow Layout

This week's challenge at Bitten by the Bug is Winter.  It doesn't snow in my area of Northern California, but lately it's sure cold enough that we feel like we live in the Sierras.  Here is a layout I did of a few of the portraits I had purchased of my granddaughter all dressed up for Winter.  Head on over to BBTB2 to see what else our great designers have to share this week.

The word "SNOW" was done with Speaking of Winter cartridge and the cute little penguin is from the Christmas Cheer Cricut Cartridge.   Stay warm everyone!

Christmas Mini Album for a Swap

Here are pictures of the mini album I made for my partner Carolyn.  This swap was a mini- album swap on the Cricut Message Board.  We could make any mini album we liked.  I used the Artbooking cartridge for a lot of the cuts and the pages themselves.

Carolyn made me an album and I will post those pictures soon.

Cricut MB Christmas Cookie Recipe Swap - Yummy

Isn't this red and green elf just a cutie?   He's been inked and Stickled and just ready to start some Christmas baking.    This is one of 20 that I made for a recipe swap on the Cricut MB.  I've had to wait several weeks to post this one because they hadn't been mailed back yet.  It's always a surprise until we open our package from the hostess.  There were a lot of pieces to the 20 elves, it took an entire evening to put them together.   I used the Christmas Solutions cartridge for the elf (yes he is so small on the display card I couldn't really make him out) and CCR for the title (using the reverse image and welding in a box over the text).  These are 6x6 inches, making the design a little challenging.  Let's get baking!!

BBTB2 Turkey Challenge - Grateful Plaque

The theme at BBTB2 this week is "TURKEY".  This is a simple plaque using adhesive vinyl.   It will look nice against my mantel with all the fall foliage.  I used the Thanksgiving and Artbooking cartridges.   The swirl is brown and the 'grateful' is black, but they both look black.  If I had additional colors of vinyl, I would add green or yellow too.  However, I'm on the road, and didn't bring my entire stash.  Thanks for viewing.

BBTB2 - White on White Challenge

Here's my entry for the BBTB2 blog today.  Let me tell you - this was a hard challenge for me.   White on White is definitely not my style, I pondered over my project for 2 weeks.   What could I make? What would look good in just white?  Well, I came home today, ready to cut something from the CCR, and there it came to me, the free Christmas Card for today.   The whites are really white and a light silver, it turns out a little darker in the picture.   Snowflakes are from the "When It's Cold Outside" cartridge, pop-dotted on the card.  A very simple card that looks dramatic.  And Yes, it is getting cold outside, 39 degrees this morning when I went to work.

Getting organized - One Stickle at a Time

From this small old wooden box, to a new organized container that won't spill.
I did a search for Stickles holders and found this on several sites.   There was a smaller case that holds 10 Stickles but I would need several and they would not store on a shelf as nice as this case.  This case is similar to the 12x12 clear cases I have for papers, so it fits in nicely.   I got this one on ebay but later saw it on sale at Joanns online.  I am happy with it and - look -  there is more room for more Stickles.

I have been organizing my craft room.  It's totally a HOT MESS right now.  I just need more hours in the day, don't you?

BBTB2 - Football Challenge - At the Superbowl

CLICK ON IMAGE TO SEE ENTIRE 2 PAGE LAYOUT

Today's challenge over at BBTB2 is "One for the Boys - Football Challenge".  I couldn't pass up the opportunity to post two of the pages that I just completed of my husband and his best friends at the Superbowl this year.  This was a major item checked off the bucket list for these guys.  I used the All Sports cuts free on the Cricut Craft Room (CCR) last week to make the embellishments.  The title and 2013 was made from Plantin Schoolbook.  I was lucky to find a 49er paper kit at JoAnns.  I'll post some of the other great layouts from this monumentous event soon.

It's Your Day Card

I work for a big communications company and there are always times when I need a work related card - retirements, birthdays, promotions, etc.  so I made a batch of these cards a while back,  I think they are great for male or female.  I really like the patterned paper, it seemed to really complete the card.   This card is going out to a friend who is retiring today.  The 'It's Your Day' phrase is from the Celebrations cart, and the telephone is from Heritage.  I Stickled the phone just to bling it up a bit.

Baby Girl "little angel" Onesie

I love making these little onesies for newborns.  I can personalize them and they are one-of-a-kind creations.   I was lucky to find a lavender onesie and it was perfect for a friend's new little girl.  I used baby pink iron-on vinyl and the Rock Princess cartridge to cut the design.   There are little hearts in the lettering -  they are a little hard to see.   Sometimes I also decorate the backside with a design as well.   This is a 15 minute project from start to finish, selecting the phrase from the 20 or so on this cartridge is the hard part.

BBTB2 Design Team Post: Halloween

Happy Halloween Everyone!   This is my post for the BBTB2 Design Team Challenge.  Since Halloween is still a few days away, I am posting a layout I finally completed from last year's pictures.  My granddaughter received a riding horsey for her birthday, so it was only fit she get a cowgirl outfit to go with it.    The title is my favorite aspect of the layout, with the word Halloween, skull, and spider from the Artiste cart.   The October 31st cart was used to accent the title, the spider, tree, haunted house, and scarecrow/pumpkin cuts.    The signs read "Whoa and  lil' Cowpoke" from the Old West cart.   This was a really fun layout to put together.   Enjoy!

BBTB2 - Pumpkin Time Challenge

This week's challenge at BBTB2 is "Pumpkin time".   I love the cuts on Hello Kitty, and so does my 2 year old granddaughter.  She calls her "KI KI", and even has little Hello Kitty earrings, clothes and purses.   This is a layout I made using a similar design that some on the Cricut message board posted a few years ago that I have saved in the "I've got to make that someday" file.   My GD was only 1.5 months old when these pictures were taken.   She was dressed as a banana baby along with mom and daddy, and the other one is with me and we are looking at the pumpkin my son grew.   All cuts were from the Hello Kitty Cricut cartridge.   Happy carving!

BBTB2 Design Team - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Welcome back to my blog.  Today's post is my selection for the BBTB http://heather-bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com/ blog.  This is my 2nd week as a designer.  Having fun so far and enjoying the challenge.   Our challenge this week is Awareness Month, and I have selected to make a card for Breast Cancer Awareness.  I have several friends who are cancer survivors, and for the last several years, I always send a card to let them know I remember and love them.   The pink ribbon is from the Pink Journey cart, the lady is from Surburbia, and CCR provided the lettering.  I stamped Think Pink in pinks, and inked the lettering and added brown shadows.  Thanks for looking.

Yes That's Me

This is a 5x7 card that I made as a joke for someone at work.   Yes, that is me when we were camping many years ago.  We had a porcelin pot that we called the 'pee' pot that went on road trips.   I copied the picture and stuck it on a patterned paper that was like a denim pocket.   Hope I made you smile.

BBTB2 - Design Team - Grape Harvest - Leaves

Welcome to my blog.  This is my first post for the BBTB Design Team.  You can see their fantastic blog by clicking here:  http://heather-bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com/.   This week the challenge is the fall maple leaf.  I used a slightly different leaf, making a layout of my granddaughter harvesting grapes from the backyard grape arbor.   The 'fencing' is from the Sophisticated cart, the word grape and grapes/leaves from the Preserves cart, and the word harvest from the Freshly Picked cart.  Everything was inked and layered.   Notice the burlap strip beneath the leaves, I thought it made a nice rustic effect.   On the closeup of the leaves, I am trying to show how I take different colored inks to the leaves to make them look like they are changing colors.  I used browns, oranges, yellows, and greens.

Fall Layout - First Thanksgiving

This is a one page layout I made for my granddaughter's first Thanksgiving.   I used the Celebrate with Flourish cartridge and the Plantin Schoolbook in different fonts to make the words.  Can't recall where the hat is from, I may have gotten it in a swap on the Cricut Message Board.  It will definitely hold a few cute pictures of her all dressed up in her finest for the occasion.

Linked to the BBTB for their Fall Challenge this week.   http://heather-bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com/2013/09/anything-fall-goes-use-fall-theme-on.html   There are some great projects designed by these ladies that provide lots of inspiration.

Wedding and Shower Banner - BBTB Designer Team Call

My daughter is getting married soon.  Here is a banner that I put together for her shower and for use at the wedding.  Her colors/theme are rustic, natural and moss/dark green.  Perfect for a fall wedding.   I found it is really hard to make romantic items in green, but I got it to work.   Most of the cuts were done using the new Artiste cartridge.   The W is for there new last name and I used Tie the Knot cartridge.   Lots of embellishments, including flowers cut from Artiste.

Entering this in the BBTB2 Designer call.  Their blog is http://heather-bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com/   Pictures are not the greatest, but it is impossible to capture the entire banner and be able to see details.  See my next post for the flower girl basket.

Flower Girl Basket using Artiste BBTB Designer Team CAll

Hi - Here with a project that is related to my daughters fall wedding.  This is the basket for the flower girl, which just happens to be my granddaughter.  I cut flowers from the Artiste cartridge and inked and rolled them.   Set with hot glue onto a styroform ball inserted into the basket.  Ivy, dried baby's breath, and ribbon/netting finish off the project.  I am really happy with the vintage look and it will surely be a keepsake in the family for a long time.
All together the project only took about 45 minues to make.  Having made these flowers previously helped in being able to put them together quickly.

Wedding Card - Vintage True Love

I love bright and vintage, this one says all that.  I had the parts to the card readily available and this card came together in about 5 minutes.  I had a collection of wedding cuts from Tie the Knot and happened to have TRUE LOVE cut in red with a white shadow.   The base of the card was leftovers from a set of invitations.   Used the swirl Cuttlebug folder and then put a grayish ink on the top to bring out the embossing.  Tag was purchased from ETSY or Ebay.

Doctor Visit Layout

I got some doctor related cuts in a swap this last month with the intention of using them in a doctor visit layout of my granddaughter.  The cuts were a little small, so I grouped them together and put on circles.  The sticker given to her by the nurse was also used on the layout.  The white box will be used to journal her stats for the day - weight, height, etc.

Valentines Spool Swap

OK I GIVE UP - IT'S GOING IN SIDEWAYS

Had this one all ready to go for 2 weeks waiting for the challenges for Valentines Day projects.

I have tried 10 times to get this picture to post the right direction, I give up.   This was a spool swap that I did on the Cricut message board.  I used 3 spools.   Yes those are cupcake liners, also used lace, paper, and a heart on a stick from the $1 store.  The Cricut cut is Celebrate with Flourish.  Added lots of bling in the way of stickles, roses, stick pin, and ribbon/rickrack.  I really like how it turned out.
