BBTB2: Cricut - Mini Album, Road Tripping

I would like to share this mini album cover with you today as part of my project for Bitten by the Bug2.  This is a mini I created from a 5 day road trip we took last summer on the Highway 395 in California, which is a south to north road along the eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. , also known as Scenic 395.  The mountains are spectacular, the lifestyle is laid back, and towns are small. We started from northern CA, driving down to Bakersfield and over to 395.  Then up 395 to Mono Lake and over the mountains into Yosemite and then home.  A great trip, new adventures, and not a lot of traffic.

I entered this mini album in the Alameda County Fair, which is a big fair, it runs for 3 weeks, and is going on now.  The category was Mini-Albums.  I won 1st Place, and Best of Show.  I was so elated, and was on Cloud 9 for the rest of the day.  Unfortunately, I did not take photos of the inside of the book, so that will be for another post as the mini will be at the fair through mid-July.

BBTB2: Cricut - Minnie Mouse Mini Album

This project is a kit that I purchased from Monique Griffith several years ago.  She is a talented Cricut creator and make a lot of kits and instructions for layouts before the Explore came out.  The kit instructions were made for the Expression, so I had to "think backwards" to undo my current brain and convert back to several years ago.  All the cuts were made with the Mickey and Friends cartridge except for 2018, which was made with Mickey Font.   I did the assembly during the all day crop at Scrapbook Expo in Pleasanton a few weeks back.  I added extra bling as the album is for my granddaughter to fill with pictures and autographs of her first trip to Disneyland.  I'm sure you will be seeing a lot of my Disneyland layouts soon.  I did buy a lot of Disney scrapbooking items and paper at the Expo and can't wait to find the time to scrap the pictures.

BBTB2: Cricut 3D Altered Record Album

Our hostess at BBTB2 this week is Susan, and in honor of National Barbershop Quarter Day, she asked us to create a musical project or card.  Hop on over to Bitten By the Bug 2 and link up your favorite project using any Cricut cuts representing music.

 I made this 'scrapbook' from an old record album I got at Goodwill for $3.  All the records inside were broken so out they went.  When our scrapbook club goes on our retreat, we draw names ahead of time and create a handmade item.   The person I was to create for is a hard working administrator by day and  singer and musician by night.  She has made a few CDs and I love listening to her croon.  She loves jazz and the blues so I tried to incorporate that into my creation.  The cover turned out really nice, and the pages inside, although they turned out different than first envisioned, represent her singing style.  I really enjoyed making this album and putting a little of myself into something for someone else.  The roses were made from the Flower Shoppe cartridge.  The keyboard, microphone, and guitar are all from Quarter Note.  I added bling of toile, ribbon, paper flowers,  feathers, and rhinestones.  The bottom right side in red is part of the original front cover - I just couldn't cover that up!

I created photo mats, tags, and embellishments using G45 papers - these were perfect for the vintage look.  I cut the paper where the hole for the center of the record goes.  She can fill the 'pockets' with trinkets - programs, ticket stubs, and photos of the venues she visits.

Originally these pages were to be black and white, but I just can't do it.  New Orleans jazz is the theme here - (can't you tell) - I am sure she has a great picture to put on the left side.

"Blackbirds singing in the dead of night, spread your wings and fly away" are lyrics to a song that my friend beautifully sings.  I stamped the words and used 3D butterflies to showcase this song.

 I used an old 45 record as a pocket to hold cards and photos.

Valentine Mini Album - Sneak Peak

I am almost done with a 12 page mini album swap on the Cricut message board. Here are a few sneak peaks at the album. Full details won't be share for another month.
