Craft With Sarah: Cricut - Happy Halloween Banner

How do you like this banner?  It's a big one - about 28" across.  I downloaded the design from "Craftwithsarah.com".  She has a lot of layered svg files for free and also for sale.  This awesome project was free a few weeks ago.   It is a monster - taking me about 5 hours to cut, and another couple of hours to assemble.  It used 40 mats - like I said, a big project and it used lots of cardstock.

Some of the layers were glued, and others pop-dotted.  Assembly was fairly straight forward, she provides instructions.  The background piece in purple took 6 12"x12" sheets.  They are taped and glued together to form the base.  This was a fun project to work on at the Sacramento Scrapbook Expo crop, as I didn't need to bring lots of scrapbooking supplies.  I have it hanging on the inside of my front door, I don't think it would hold up well hanging outside.   Check out Sarah's website - there are lots of animals, seasonal designs, and bundles.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Scrapbook Layout: Let's Roast Marshmallows

It's been a while since I've posted.  I was so sad that the Bitten By the Bug challenge group could not continue - I was a designer there for over 6 years.  My crafting time and energy took a drop once I did not have a deadline to make a post for the group.   I have been crafting a bit here and there, making things for the grandkids baseball and soccer teams.  I'll post some of those soon.

I made a layout, pretty quick and simple, but so bold!   I took several pictures of my youngest grandson toasting marshmallows this summer.  He loves to catch them on fire and blow them out.  He's good for at least two s'mores and roasting a marshmallow or two for his Nonno.

I participated in a camping die cut swap a year or so ago and received these 3 die cuts. I do not think she used a Cricut for the cuts, as I don't see them in Design Space.  So Cute!! It all came together when I found the perfect paper from a camping themed stack.  You don't see my journaling, which was done under the right picture and in a box on the bottom right.  Isn't this just the cutest layout?

She's Just a Girl Who Loves Horses

My granddaughter is taking horse riding lessons.  So, I decided to make her a sweatshirt that will last the winter.  It was pretty easy and came together quickly.   I took an image from Design Space and altered it a bit (taking the heart off of Love, changing the size of the L, and changing the horse.  I think if I added any more colors, she may not like it - 10-year-old fashionistas can be picky.  She loved this sweatshirt!!!

BBTB2: Cricut - Wooden Christmas Ornaments

It's December, and I've already started running around like there's no tomorrow.  Since we moved this year, the location of all my 20+ boxes of Christmas lights and decorations are somewhat a mystery.  I managed to rummage and find what I needed to get started.  Thank goodness I was able to get a little crafting done a few weeks ago and make these wooden ornaments.   I had cut the wood disks last year and knew where they were and from there I got creating.   These are really popular now, I see them all over Pinterest and craft blogs.

These ornaments are featured in our Bitten by the Bug2 blog, as I am the hostess for the next two weeks.  You can enjoy looking at some inspiration of our Design Team and also link up your own creation that features a Cricut cut/image that uses an ornament.

I painted the disks black with acrylic paint.  I used iron on vinyl for two of my images.  My first try was not successful, as I melted the vinyl - see the ugly picture.  They I got my patience back and made two more.  The third one (snowman) is just a paper image that I modpodged on and tossed on some silver glitter.  I can't wait to make a few more.  My designs are from Design Space.  Happy Holidays!!

BBTB2: Cricut - It's All Fun and Games with You

My almost-5 year old grandson loves to play board and card games.  When he comes over, he will go get a game and set it up and ask everyone to play with him.  He's half lucky, and half talent at playing Sequence, Uno, Checkers, and Match Game.  So, when the Bitten by the Bug2 challenge of "Fun and Games" came up, I knew I wanted a layout with him and his games.  Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of him yet with his games, so I did a quick substitution.

Link up your projects and cards to our Bitten by the Bug2 challenge for the next two weeks HERE.

All of my images are from Design Space.

BBTB2: Cricut - Family Heritage Challenge

Hello All,  These next two weeks at Bitten by the Bug2 are all about Family and Heritage.  Use your Cricut to create anything related to the challenge theme.  You can link up your artwork HERE at Bitten by the Bug2.  Use Pinterest, or Instagram to post your work, you do not have to have a blog.

I choose to use a scrapbook page from my brother's wedding.  They had some gorgeous photos and I wanted to scrap them.  The page is rather simple, and showcases the pictures well.  Can't go wrong with a big "Mr. and Mrs." title.  Images are from Tie the Knot and Sweethearts.  I added a fancy frame and some gems to brighten up the cutwork.  Enjoy!

BBTB2: Cricut - Looking to Cruise

We just got back from a cruise with our cousins.  It was our first vacation in over 2 years, and long overdue.  They were re-booking a cruise from last year, so they are really celebrating 26 years of marriage.  My husband and I just celebrated 40 years in August.  I decided to make decorations for the outside door of our cabins.  They had a porthole and we had a ship.

Our challenge over at Bitten by the Bug2 for the next 2 weeks is "Use Patterned Paper".  I used a few pieces on this porthole to emulate wood and water.  The porthole is from the Nautical Graphic Icons image set.  The sun and fish were elements I had in my stash.  Join in the fun - and easy challenge - and link up your project to our Bitten by the Bug2 Linky - HERE

BBTB2: Cricut - Witching You a Happy Halloween

With Halloween decor and candy already in the stores, and the grandkids excited about picking out Halloween costumes, it's time to get some layouts done for the holiday.  Maureen here, and I'm hosting our theme for our Bitten by the Bug2 challenge, which is "WITCHES AND GHOULS".  You have the next two weeks to use your Cricut to create a project, layout, card or decor item that relates to the challenge theme and link it up to the Link at BBTB2.  You can use your blog, Pinterest, or Photo account to join the challenge.

My design team post is a layout for one picture - which is unusual for me.  However, I have just the best picture to put in that frame.

Most of the images are from the Artbooking image set, including that background of the huge spiderweb. Dimensional Scenes and Halloween Phrases image sets were also used.   I used Stickles, inks, and black pen to embellish the cuts.  Fun to put together.  Enjoy and Happy Haunting.  Hope to see you join us at Bitten by the Bug2.

BBTB2: Cricut - Sparkling Seahorses

I made lots of these cards for a swap,   It was so much fun trying out different color combos for the seahorses and background papers.

The seahorses were made by starting with double stick adhesive tape.   One side was stuck to white cardstock and cut out on the Cricut, using the Traveler image set in Design Space.  The top of the image was uncovered and I sprinkled white fine glitter over the image and burnished it into the seahorse.  I then took ink sprays and let the magic happen.  The color combos mixed so well and really designed themselves.

The sand dollar is a stamp from Tim Holtz.  I added a light background with a few strips of paper and splatters of ink.  I really just wanted the seahorses to shine.   I'll definitely try this technique again.

Our challenge at Bitten by the Bug2 is "Under the Sea" for the next two weeks.  Use your Cricut and link up anything you make with it to our challenge HERE.   Enjoy!

BBTB2: Cricut - Summer Vacation Horse Camp

It's been forever since I've posted a project on my blog or on Bitten by the Bug2.  Lots going on this year, including a big move to Northern CA.  I have been packing, unpacking, fixing, and shopping for what seems like months.  My craft room is 1/4 the size of what I had before, and I guess it's going to be awhile before it's in a good working condition.  I did set up my Cricut and found one mat so that I could cut out some images.

Summer is so hot here, most days in the last month have been 90-100 degrees.  The week my granddaughter had horse camp it was over 100 degrees each day.  This limited their training time, but she didn't give up.  On Friday, we were invited to a show of what they had learned during the week.  A great adventure for my granddaughter and I hope she continues to learn about horses.  This layout is a great subject for the theme of our Bitten by the Bug2 challenge for the next two weeks - "Great Outdoors".  You can link up your card, layout, or project on the blog for all to see.   Have a great August, stay cool!

Small Horse:  Noah's ABCs
Large Horse:  Bit's and Pieces
Giddy Up and Girl:  Create A Friend
Saddle, Horse: Old West
Road:  Travel Often
Fence:  A Frightful Affair

The above is my completed layout.  I also cut out a set for my granddaughter to make for her book.

I drew inspiration from Anthadene Endemann's design that is in the Facebook Group "Scrappytodoit With my Cricut".  I love her designs and use them often.
